Are CEREC® Same-Day Crowns Right for You?

We’ll help you work out whether a same-day crown is the best pathway for your tooth. It’s often a great solution if:

The Process: Your Crown, Done in a Day

Most CEREC® crown treatments are completed in a single appointment of two to three hours. Here’s what that looks like:

Assessment and Planning

We examine your tooth, discuss your goals, and confirm it's suitable for same-day crown treatment. We'll talk you through the process and what to expect before anything begins.

Tooth Preparation and Digital Scanning

We gently remove any damaged or decayed material and reshape the tooth to accept the crown. A precise digital scan is then taken, capturing every detail of your tooth and surrounding bite.

Crown Design

Using CEREC® software, we design your custom crown on screen, tailoring the shape and size to fit your tooth anatomy and how your bite comes together.

Milling and Fabrication

Your crown is milled from a high-quality ceramic block right here in the practice. While it's being made, you can sit back and relax.

Fitting and Bonding

Once milled, we check the fit, make any fine adjustments, and bond the crown securely into place. You leave the same day with a fully restored tooth.

Final Placement and Care Instructions

We'll permanently cement your restoration and provide specific care instructions, though long-term success depends on individual factors and cannot be guaranteed.

A Smooth Return to Normal

Recovery and Long-Term Care

Most patients walk out and get straight back to their day. CEREC® crowns are designed to feel comfortable from the moment they’re placed.

What to expect:

  • Mild Sensitivity. Some sensitivity to temperature in the first few days is normal and usually settles on its own.
  • Gum Settling. Minor gum tenderness around the treated tooth can occur and typically resolves quickly.
  • Bite Awareness. Your crown will be checked and adjusted before you leave, but occasionally a little further fine-tuning is needed at a follow-up visit.

Protecting Your Crown

Ceramic crowns are strong, but like natural teeth they benefit from care. We recommend avoiding very hard foods in the first few days, and for patients who grind at night, a custom night guard can help protect your restoration and extend its life significantly.
